Description : Elbasan is the heart of Albania and is geographically located in the middle of it, separating the North of Albania from the South. A very diverse natural area encompassing a wide geographical range with the four municipalities of Elbasan, Librazhd, Gramsh and Peqin where there are not only many nature monuments but also new cultures from other people.Elbasan has the most lakes in the area of Albania, There are more than 86 of them in the Dumre area alone. In the Elbasan district there is the Sotira Waterfall, Holta Canyons or many other natural monuments worth visiting. Program : 1. Start walking towards Via Egnatia which takes about 3 hours. This route made the connection between Rome and Byzantium, connecting the Roman Empire of the East with that of the West. On the Egnatia Road Trail we find the Roman road construction technique: reaching more direct, comfortable, economical centers, trying to avoid floods, and forcing terrain reductions. 2. We will continue with the visit to the Castle of Elbasan. The castle, along with the surrounding walls, shows the military importance of the city of Elbasan in the early Ottoman period. The south wall, more or less complete, testifies to the size and strength of the fortifications, as well as some of the Roman and Byzantine materials used during the reconstruction by Mehmet II, can be clearly seen on the foundations of the south-west tower. 3. Visit the Ethnographic Museum. It is a characteristic 2 storey house turned into a museum. On the first floor there are some of the many crafts that this town used to do, while the upper floor is made as a residential home for a wealthy Elbasan citizen. 4. Then we have lunch with traditional dishes of the area at “Restorant Gjahtari 2” 5. Visit the stadium "Elbasan Arena". An architectural beauty and one of the newest stadiums in Albania. 6. You can't miss the Roman station AD QUINTUM too. The Ad Quintum Station (or Fifth Station) is known as Egnatia Road Station, located in the village of Bradashesh, and is a cultural monument. This bath, otherwise known as the hamam, was built along Egnatia Road to serve the citizens as a mutatio, a resting place.
